O crescent of the dark nights, shine forth by day!

For truly you are a delight to the eyes.

You are effacement, and in the eye you are a full moon,

through your self-revelation in the bewildered radiance.

So when the crescent of meanings appears,

rising from the garden of the eyes,

say to it with transcendent humility,

not in the spirit of supplication and denial:

O crescent that has journeyed among the ribs,

do not leave the deep darkness of otherness.

Be a little servant in its palace, and royal,

after our two effacements for you in the moon's dark phase.

A wisdom over which creation has grown bewildered,

and two lamps kindled it by day.

How wondrous their radiance—how they both shone!

Yet the sun's splendor dispels the lights.

Every light in every heart is bewildered,

except the heart of the Chosen One's heir.

So thank God, my dear brother, for what

the fruits of remembrance have bestowed.
