My God, grant me success in all that is pleasing to You.

And make my heart content with what You decree for me.
And let my heart be content with what you decree for me.

فإن كان سرّاء حمدتك منعما
وإنand if كانis ضراءadversity نظرتI consider إلىat المقضيwhat has been decreed
وإن كان ضراء نظرت إلى المقضي
Then if it is prosperity, I praise You as the Bestower of blessings.
If it is ease, I praise you as a benefactor,
And if it is adversity, I consider what has been decreed.
And if it is distress, I look to what is ordained.

So I examine it in light of what I have already mentioned.
So I look upon it with what you have mentioned,
Then if it is not pleasing, I turn toward what is approved.
If it does not please, I incline towards what satisfies.

And if all of me is upright, I rejoice in myself.
And if it is all straightforward for me, I rejoice in it,
And if part of me intends [wrong], I weep over that part of me.
And if part of it burdens me, I weep for that part.

My God, I hope, through Your care for us,
My God, I hope for your care for us,
That when I slip from a recommended act, I proceed toward an obligation.
When I slip from the path, I return to the obligation.

And if, through my Lord, I am firmly established in exaltation,
And if I am truly exalted by my Lord,
Then do not veil me from the servanthood of lowliness.
Do not deprive me of servanthood and humility.

Enable me towards the best loan.

So half is for you, like the prescribed prayer,
And half to us, without breach or annulment.
And half for us without breaking or cancelling.

When He dissolves my composite form and hastens my undoing.

As His obligation; and can any surplus remain alongside the aim?

On a swift she-camel, running and galloping.
Upon the high-humped she-camel, at a run and a gallop.
