Indeed, through being I have gained from my nonbeing that whose

form has been established in actuality; and being belongs to God.

So the ruling concerning us is ours; He does not wrong us.

And the resplendent proof stands in God's favor.

Impossible things have no established existence in actuality, though

reason has posited them for imagination, for God.

And nature is its arm, and the eye its witness.

Witnesses they are, and they are under decrees from God.

Had He not willed, it would not have been; He willed, and it was.

And 'if' has no authority alongside God.

Whoever sows withholding reaps nothing but nonbeing.

And generosity sows; bringing into being belongs to God.

And wherever its form is established in actuality,

it yields nothing but withholding, by God.

And its force weakens if you join to it

the presence of 'not'—a wisdom also from God.

Were it not for the reality of 'if,' He would be subject, and there would be ascribed to Him

the contrary of what befits the Essence, by God.

So God's mercy toward the entities brought into being

the melodies; so judge them to be generosity from God.

The girdle has tightened upon whoever does not know it,

and you know it only from God.

For He brought all created things into being,

out of bounty and acts of care from God.

Thus no existent among created things is witnessed,

nor its ruling, by anyone except through God.

    So give praise, increase it, and acknowledge being from nonbeing;

and thank your God; thank none but God.

Indeed, I have brought branches of knowledge into our poem

that are hidden from everyone veiled from God.

And say: rather, it is sound knowledge; and do not

turn to anything else, and you will draw near to God.

Do not ever lean upon anything that delights you

unless you witness it as generosity from God.

You repel its perils through what you are endowed with

of witnessing; so do not be heedless of God.

And do not fear matters you are wary of,

save with your protection in them coming from God.

My aim is your presence; do not be heedless, and be a man

for God, through God, in God, with God.

So be like Sahl and his peers, who knew

that the being of God's existence is God.

Ah, how cool this wisdom tastes upon my liver!

The spiritual state brought it as bounty from God.
