Indeed, praise of all the Names

is through them; they know no others at all.

Is this not true? He has brought it to you

in the clear Revelation—a Qur’an He recited to you—

when He took the primordial particles; then the Real made us bear witness:

“Am I not your Lord?” The answer was “Yes.”

And He did not single out a woman under this ruling,

at the witnessing, nor a man under it either.

He encompassed existence—in my sight, His very form.

So I do not care whether the star shines or sets.

Indeed, existence is my existence; no one rivals me

in it except one who says, “The servant has dwelt in Him.”

Indeed, the One whose favors are hoped for when I am gone—

God has confirmed my expectation when He says “toward,”

concerning seeing the Face, while the eyes gaze.

He did not mean by “toward” a particle such as “from” and “to.”

Indeed, suppositions have deemed it impossible for “toward” to be

like its counterpart, “toward Him”; so turn away in haste.
