في شهوةِ البطنِ سِرٌ ليس يعلمه

في شهوةِ البطنِ سِرٌ ليس يعلمه

إلا الذي شاهد الرزّاق رَزاقا

إلا الذي شاهد الرزّاق رَزاقا

In the belly’s appetite lies a secret no one knows

In the desire of the belly there is a secret only known

except one who has beheld the Provider as a provider.

By those who have seen the Sustainer as the Sustainer

لولا الغذاء ولولا سِرُّ حكمته

لولا الغذاء ولولا سِرُّ حكمته

ما لاح فرعٌ ولا عاينت أعراقا

ما لاح فرعٌ ولا عاينت أعراقا

Were it not for nourishment and the secret of His wisdom,

If not for food and the mystery of its wisdom

no branch would have appeared, nor would you have beheld roots.

No branch would bloom and no veins be seen

فكُل حلالاً إذا كان المحلَّل مو

فكُل حلالاً إذا كان المحلَّل مو

جوداً بقلبك وهّاباً وخلاّقا

جوداً بقلبك وهّاباً وخلاّقا

So eat what is lawful, if the One who makes it lawful is

So eat what is lawful when the Lawgiver is

present in your heart as Bestower and Creator.

Generous in your heart, Giving, Creating
