When a servant despairs of God, having seen
bounty from God bestowed on an unbeliever,

against his will—and God knows his state—
Despite his complaints, God knows his affairs well,
and God is not unjust concerning what the servant intends.
And God does no injustice in His intentions for His servant.

When customs veil understanding, their rule
was running its course at his door, while the Real is not manifest.

He punishes him with the grave in a land of estrangement,
So God punishes him with a lonely grave
by day and by night, while the Guardian conceals.
In foreign lands, day and night, while the Almighty conceals him.
