لباسَ دينٍ وتقوى

I clothed my daughter Dunya

I wore my daughter the dress of this world

in a garment of faith and piety.

May I see her, to fulfill what

I hope to see her on what

God has enjoined, grow strong.

فإن دارَك هذي

دارُ اختبارٍ وبلوى

For indeed this abode of yours

For your abode here

is an abode of testing and tribulation.

Is an abode of trial and affliction

إذا شربتَ بنفس

إذا شربتَ بنفس

ماءَ الحياةِ لتروى

ماءَ الحياةِ لتروى

When you drink in a single breath

When you drink with a soul

the water of life to quench your thirst,

The water of life to quench your thirst

إنّ التنفس فيه

إنّ التنفس فيه

أهنى وأمرى وأروى

أهنى وأمرى وأروى

indeed, taking breaths as you drink it

Breathing in it

is more pleasant, more wholesome, and more thirst-quenching.

Is most delightful, beautiful and satisfying
