إنَّ لي ربّاً كريماً أجدُه

إنَّ لي ربّاً كريماً أجدُه

كالذي نعلم أو نعتقده

كالذي نعلم أو نعتقده

Indeed, I have a generous lord whom I find

I have a generous Lord whom I find

like the one we know or believe in.

As we know or believe Him to be

هو مني وأنا منه به

هو مني وأنا منه به

ولذا في كلِّ حالٍ أجدُه

ولذا في كلِّ حالٍ أجدُه

He is of me, and I am of him, through him.

He is part of me and I am part of Him

And so, in every state, I find him.

And so in every case I find Him

كلُّ من نال الذي قد نلته

كلُّ من نال الذي قد نلته

من وجودٍ قد تعالى مشهدُه

من وجودٍ قد تعالى مشهدُه

Everyone who has attained what I have attained

Everyone who got what I got

of being—his vision is exalted.

From an Existence whose scene is sublime

إن أستاذي الذي أدّبني

إن أستاذي الذي أدّبني

هو شخص في وجودي يشهدُه

هو شخص في وجودي يشهدُه

Indeed, my teacher, who schooled me,

My teacher who disciplined me

is a person who witnesses him within my being.

Is a person present in my existence

هو مني والدٌ معتبرٌ

هو مني والدٌ معتبرٌ

وأنا منه كهو أو ولده

وأنا منه كهو أو ولده

He is to me an acknowledged father,

He is part of me, a fatherly guide

and I am to him as he is, or his child.

And I am part of him like a son

لا أسميه لأني عالم

لا أسميه لأني عالم

أنه يكره ذا بلْ يعبده

أنه يكره ذا بلْ يعبده

I do not name him, for I know

I do not name him because I know

that he dislikes this; rather, he worships him.

He dislikes that, but rather worships Him

ولذا قلتُ بشخصٍ للذي

ولذا قلتُ بشخصٍ للذي

قد روى من قد تعالى سنده

قد روى من قد تعالى سنده

And so I spoke of 'a person,' because of what

And so I spoke of a person for Him

one whose chain of transmission is exalted has related.

Who has narrated from the Sublime Authority

ما قصدنا لنوالٍ غيره

ما قصدنا لنوالٍ غيره

هو رِفدي فأنا أسترفدُه

هو رِفدي فأنا أسترفدُه

For bounty, we have turned to none but him.

We did not intend for any reward but Him

He is my aid, so I seek his aid.

He is my provision so I seek from Him

إنه النائب عن خالقنا

إنه النائب عن خالقنا

برضانا ولذا نعتمده

برضانا ولذا نعتمده

Indeed, he is our Creator's deputy,

He is the deputy of our Creator

with our consent; and so we rely on him.

So we depend on Him being pleased with us

من يكن يعرفه جهلاً به

من يكن يعرفه جهلاً به

أنْ يرى في كل حالٍ نعبده

أنْ يرى في كل حالٍ نعبده

Whoever knows him while ignorant of him

Whoever knows Him out of ignorance

should see us worship him in every state.

Should see we worship Him in every case

وبهذا الأمرِ قد كلفنا

وبهذا الأمرِ قد كلفنا

وعلمنا أنّ هذا مقصده

وعلمنا أنّ هذا مقصده

And with this command we have been charged,

And with this command we were charged

and we have learned that this is his purpose.

And taught that this is His aim

فليكن عندك من ذا خبرٌ

فليكن عندك من ذا خبرٌ

منصفٌ تعرفه لا تجحده

منصفٌ تعرفه لا تجحده

So keep with you an account of this—

So let there be with you a knowledgeable one

an impartial one you recognize; do not deny it.

Fair, whom you know, not denying Him
