I am absent; longing consumes my soul, and then I meet him.

Yet I find no healing, for longing persists in absence and in presence.

And meeting him brings me what I had not imagined.

So the cure became another sickness born of passion.

For I see someone whose beauty increases

Aversion and pride whenever we meet.

    So passion must accompany

Each increase in beauty, in a finely wrought order.
