God sent down a light by which one is illumined

upon the heart of a prophet whom God made glad.

His spirit brought it from above the heavenly vaults—

seven—to his heart; and the hearer is God.

From Him, to Him, through Him, the descent was for Him.

So in the cosmos there is only the One—God.

And the body, and the accident witnessed within it, and what

is in the unseen, which you do not behold—all that is God.

And there is no contradiction in what I have said, for I am

the essence of the many, and my essence is the One—God.

Among the most wondrous things is that determination comes from nonexistence

within the essence of a being; where, then, are the servant and God?

    والأمر حقاً وعين المبصرِ الله

    So the eye witnesses a creation that came from nonexistence;

this is indeed the case, and the beholder's essence is God.

His is the right hand; His are the two eyes, in a report

brought from Him by the bearer, who is God.

Thus determination is mine, and His is existence itself; and no

existence of the essence comes from me—rather, it is God.

    So behold Him in trees, and behold Him in a stone;

and behold Him in everything—that is God.

All names are His, if you understand Him.

He is the one named by them; so all of them are God.

So if an ignorant person were to say, "I have been ignorant, and there is no

ignorance in God; so my being is not God,"

then tell him, "That is the essence's determination in Him." And who

understands what I have said—that it is God?

There is nothing there, by God, but bewilderment made manifest.

And by myself I swore, and indeed the one who swears is God.

If there were an existence there that was not God,

God would not be alone in the single existence.

    وهذه نسب والثابتُ الله

    Rather, coming into being is ours, and whatever follows it;

and these are relations, and the abiding reality is God.

He acts in our stead, while in relation to Him I am nonexistent.

And we witness Him, and the witness is God.
