قد عظم الله ما أقول

قد عظم الله ما أقول

في حكمة ما لها دليل

God has indeed exalted what I say

Concerning a wisdom for which there is no proof.

أظهرها للأنام طُرَّا

أظهرها للأنام طُرَّا

في جُمل كلها فصول

في جُمل كلها فصول

I reveal it to all humankind

In summaries, all of them detailed expositions.

قيل لنا إنها رموز

قيل لنا إنها رموز

قلت لهم هذه السبيل

قلت لهم هذه السبيل

We were told that they were symbols;

I told them: this path

أوضح مني على وجودي

أوضح مني على وجودي

تقصر عن فهمها العقول

تقصر عن فهمها العقول

Is clearer evidence of my existence than I am.

Intellects fall short of understanding it.

ما إن رأينا ولا سمعنا

ما إن رأينا ولا سمعنا

بأنَّ أذهاننا تجول

بأنَّ أذهاننا تجول

We have neither seen nor heard

That our minds roam

فيها لبعدٍ بغير قربٍ

فيها لبعدٍ بغير قربٍ

يحار في حكمها النبيل

يحار في حكمها النبيل

Within it, owing to remoteness without nearness.

The noble one is bewildered by its judgment.
