Blessed is God, who has never ceased

to bear the attributes that were His in beginningless eternity.

Glory be to Him, the One; what belongs to Him

is indeed mighty in His sovereignty, then exalted.

    Intellects denied some of what

His signs and the messengers brought,

    and accepted it after interpreting

its outward sense, whether report or parable.

Indeed, what their proof has yielded

is due to the deviation or ailments within them,

in their hearts; thus His revelation came

in His Reminder, concerning every momentous affair.

The essence established by proof has not dispensed

with an accident inhering in it, or a locus,

except with the world, insofar as it is

proof that His rule has never ceased.

And indeed, if He were not speaking,

the cosmos would not exist through Him, and would vanish.

So the matter is doubtless as you see:

in its very essence lies the wisdom of those who hold sway.
