الكسب منه ما أنا كاسبٌ

الكسب منه ما أنا كاسبٌ

فرهن نفسي ما الذي أوجبه

فرهن نفسي ما الذي أوجبه

Acquisition comes from Him; I am no acquirer.

I gain from Him what I gain

Then what made the pledging of my soul necessary?

So I pledged my soul, for what did I oblige it?

ما أعجب الأمر الذي قلته

ما أعجب الأمر الذي قلته

على صحيح العلم ما أعجبه

على صحيح العلم ما أعجبه

How astonishing is the matter I spoke of,

How strange is the matter I stated

on the basis of sound knowledge—how astonishing it is!

With true knowledge, how strange it seems to him

وقد يقول الحقُّ من عنده

وقد يقول الحقُّ من عنده

من أقدر الخلقِ ومن أكسبه

من أقدر الخلقِ ومن أكسبه

And the Real may say, from Himself:

And truth may say from His side

"Who is the most capable of creation, and who its greatest acquirer,

Who is the most powerful of creation, and who gives him gain

إلا أنا فالفعل مني به

إلا أنا فالفعل مني به

فلا تقل في العبد ما أكذبه

فلا تقل في العبد ما أكذبه

but I?" Thus the act comes from me through Him.

Except Me, so the action is from Me through him

So do not say of the servant, "How untruthful he is!"

So do not say about the servant what makes him a liar

يصدق في الفعل إذا قال لي

يصدق في الفعل إذا قال لي

برهاننا الكاتب ما أكتبه

برهاننا الكاتب ما أكتبه

He speaks truly about the act when he says to me:

He is truthful in the action when He says to me

"Our proof is the writer—how well he writes!"
