1. قد جرىفي مثلنا مثلَ

    علم في رأسِه نارٌ

    A proverb has indeed circulated about our like:

    A mountain with fire upon its summit.

  2. بيتنا وبين كن نسب

    فلنا في الكون آثارُ

    Our house and "Be!" share a bond of kinship,

    So we have traces in the cosmos.

  3. إنه لمن تحققه

    نقص حظ فيه أضرارُ

    Indeed, for whoever truly knows it, it is

    A diminished share, with harms within it.

  4. فرددنا لصاحبه

    ما أنا في الردِّ مختار

    So we returned it to its owner;

    I have no choice in returning it.

  5. إنما الدنيا له ولنا

    في التي تليها أخبار

    This world is his alone; for us,

    In the one that follows it, there are tidings.

  6. إنما يدري بصحة ذا

    من له في العلم مقدار

    Only he knows the truth of this

    Who has standing in knowledge.

  7. والذي يلهو بعبرته

    ما له في القلب أبصار

    And whoever trifles with its lesson

    Has no eyes within his heart.

  8. هذه الدنيا لهم تعبٌ

    ولنا عونٌ وأنصار

    This world is toil for them,

    And for us, aid and helpers,

  9. للذي أرجوه من منح

    جلها أني لها جار

    For the gifts I hope for,

    The greatest of them being that I am their neighbor.

  10. هكذا قال الجليل لنا

    وأتى في ذاك أخبار

    Thus the Majestic One said to us,

    And reports have come concerning that.
