فَعَلامَ أَبعَدتُم أَخا ثِقَةٍ

فَعَلامَ أَبعَدتُم أَخا ثِقَةٍ

لَم يَجتَرِم ذَنباً وَلا سَرَقا

لَم يَجتَرِم ذَنباً وَلا سَرَقا

Then why have you banished a trustworthy man

Why banish a brother, tried and true

Who committed no sin and did not steal?

Who never sinned or stole from you?

انفوا المُؤَذِّنَ مِن بِلادِكُم

انفوا المُؤَذِّنَ مِن بِلادِكُم

إِن كانَ يُنفى كُلُّ مَن صَدَقا

إِن كانَ يُنفى كُلُّ مَن صَدَقا

Banish the muezzin from your lands,

Spurn not the muezzin from your land -

If everyone who tells the truth is banished.

Would you exile all truthful men?
