حَوى قَصبَ السَبقِ أَهلُ العِراقِ

حَوى قَصبَ السَبقِ أَهلُ العِراقِ

وَعَطَّرَ ذِكرُهُم الأَندِيَه

وَعَطَّرَ ذِكرُهُم الأَندِيَه

The people of Iraq have carried off the reed of victory;

The people of Iraq have mastered excellence

And their renown has perfumed the assemblies.

And their fame has scented the clubs

وَأَيُّ خَطيبٍ يُجاريهِمُ

وَأَيُّ خَطيبٍ يُجاريهِمُ

وَقَد خَطَبَت فيهِمُ الأَجدِيَه

وَقَد خَطَبَت فيهِمُ الأَجدِيَه

And what orator can rival them,

What orator can rival them

When even young goats have preached among them?

When their eulogies have been recited by the hands of fate
