أَخلَقَ الشِعر مدلويهِ وَأَهليهِ

أَخلَقَ الشِعر مدلويهِ وَأَهليهِ

وَأَزرى الملَقُّ بِالصوفِيَّه

وَأَزرى الملَقُّ بِالصوفِيَّه

Madlawayh has worn poetry and its people threadbare;

And flattery has brought discredit upon the Sufis.

حادَ عَن مَذهَبِ التَصَوُّفِ إِلّا

حادَ عَن مَذهَبِ التَصَوُّفِ إِلّا

كَثرَةَ الأَكلِ فيهِ وَاللوطِيَّه

كَثرَةَ الأَكلِ فيهِ وَاللوطِيَّه

He has strayed from the path of Sufism, except for

Excessive eating within it, and sodomy.
