وَخِلٍّand a friend نَأىwithdrew عَنfrom صُحبَتيmy companionship بَعدَafter قُربِهِhis closeness
وَقَدand already كُنتُI was أَخشىI fear مِنof تَقَلُّبِfickleness قَلبِهِhis heart
And a friend withdrew from my company after being close to me,
A friend turned away after being close
And I had feared the fickleness of his heart.
Though I had feared his fickle heart's misdeeds
وَأَنكَرَنيand he disowned me حَتّىto the point that كَأَنِّيَas though I لَمnot أَكُنI was
بِمِروَدِwith the kohl-stick of بَطنيmy belly كاحِلاًapplying kohl to عَينَthe eye of صُلبِهِhis loins
And he disowned me so completely that it was as though I had never been
He denied knowing me, as if I never was
Applying kohl to the eye of his loins with my belly's kohl-stick.
A comrade, saddening his stern, cold gaze
أَلاbeware لاdo not تَكُنbe يَوماًever بِمَنin one who نِيكَwas fucked واثِقاًtrusting
فَمَنfor whoever لَمdid not يَذُدward off عَنfrom ثَقبِهِhis hole لاdo not تَثِقtrust بِهِin him
Beware: never trust one who has been fucked,
Oh, never fully trust those who seem so kind
For whoever did not defend his hole—do not trust him.
Who doesn't guard his hole, in him, don't confide
