His heart is gladdened by the radiance of knowledge.

And his face is marked by the beauty of light.

And the palm of his hand overflows with goodness.

And its back is kissed for the covenants of God.

And knowledge is his worth, and forbearance his nature.

Noble are his lineage, his soul, and his disposition.

In his service, seekers of knowledge have all they desire:

    Wealth, honor, guidance, and instruction.

Clouds of knowledge above them, from his generosity,

Rain down; in their sea they gather to drink like thirst-maddened camels.

He speaks with patience and forbearance, being learned; and he has

Where right is at stake, boldness and resolve.

His tread grows heavy upon whoever disobeys or betrays.

And in the spear-straightener lies correction for what is crooked.

    بِها الزَمان عَنِ الأَبرار مَخزُومُ

    Time has in its nose a ring set there by his rule;

By it, the age is bridled and kept from the righteous.

Look kindly upon my beautiful praises, even if they fall short:

Indeed, beauty, for all its flaws, is shown mercy.

O listeners to the Imam's praises, take heed:

Then kneel upon the knees of reverence, or stand.
