وَعِندي مِن لَواحظها حديثٌ

وَعِندي مِن لَواحظها حديثٌ

يُخبِّر أنّ رِيقَتها مُدامُ

يُخبِّر أنّ رِيقَتها مُدامُ

And I have a report from her glances,

From her glances, I possess a narrative,

Saying that her saliva is wine.

Declaring that her nectar is vintage wine;

وفي أَعطافها النَشوَى دليل

وفي أَعطافها النَشوَى دليل

وما ذُقنا ولا زعم الهُمامُ

وما ذُقنا ولا زعم الهُمامُ

And in her tipsy limbs lies proof,

And in her intoxicated swaying lies the proof,

Yet we have not tasted it, nor has the gallant man claimed as much.

Though we have not tasted, nor did the noble chief lay claim.
