تَفَرَّعت لِأَصحابي

تَفَرَّعت لِأَصحابي

وَتَنسى بَعضَ أَصحابِك

وَتَنسى بَعضَ أَصحابِك

You have lashed out at my companions,

I have devoted myself to my friends

and forget some of your own:

And you forget some of your friends

حَميدٌ وَفَتى الطَّحنِ

حَميدٌ وَفَتى الطَّحنِ

وَإِسحق وَمنجابِك

وَإِسحق وَمنجابِك

Hamid and the mill-boy,

Hamid and the young grinder

and Ishaq and your Minjab,

And Ishaq and your doorkeeper

وَأُخرى لا أسَمِّيها

وَأُخرى لا أسَمِّيها

تَراني لَستُ أَقوى بِك

تَراني لَستُ أَقوى بِك

and another I do not name.

And another I will not name

You see, I gain no strength through you.

You see I am not strong enough for you

عَنَيناها شَمائِلك ال

عَنَيناها شَمائِلك ال

لَتِي أَلوَت بِأَسبابِك

لَتِي أَلوَت بِأَسبابِك

We meant your traits,

We were fascinated by your features

which swept away your supports.

That have charmed with their causes

فَقَد صِرت مِنَ العُرْ

فَقَد صِرت مِنَ العُرْ

يِ تناجي خَلفَ أَبوابِك

يِ تناجي خَلفَ أَبوابِك

For, owing to nakedness, you now

So I have become one of the bare

whisper behind your doors.

Who whispers behind your doors
