O you who have seen a form surpassing all forms,

O you who have seen a moon more radiant than the moon!

She was envisioned bareheaded, until, when she unveiled herself,

Disdain said to her, “You there, cover yourself!”

So she brought out a sleeve and concealed her charms

with its surplus cloth, and drove away the wandering chill.

She slept; I spent the night watching the star, propped on my elbow.

O Haml’s sleep, are you not ashamed of my sleeplessness?
