O good fortune of my day and its morrow,

and good fortune of what follows its morrow!

The one who envies has nothing

except his share of his envy.

Ah, may my father ransom the dye-stained one,

who gestured toward us with his hand.

He gestured with it, then folded

    his palm against his liver.

Indeed, the wasting in my body

    tells me of his body;

it tells me of him through what

    I know of his anguish.
