نَزَلَت بِالخائِنينَ سَنَه

نَزَلَت بِالخائِنينَ سَنَه

سَنَةٌ لِلنَّاسِ مُمتَحِنَهْ

سَنَةٌ لِلنَّاسِ مُمتَحِنَهْ

A year has come upon the treacherous—

The betrayers have been struck by a year

a year that puts people to the test.

A year that has tested all the people

خَولَت ذا النُّصحِ نِعمَتَه

خَولَت ذا النُّصحِ نِعمَتَه

وَأَزَلَّت نِعمَةَ الخَوَنَهْ

وَأَزَلَّت نِعمَةَ الخَوَنَهْ

It bestowed his blessing on the sincere man,

It denied blessings to the treacherous one

and made the traitors’ prosperity slip away.

And removed the blessing of betrayal

فَتَرى أَهلَ العَفافِ بِها

فَتَرى أَهلَ العَفافِ بِها

وَهُمُ في حالَةٍ حَسَنَهْ

وَهُمُ في حالَةٍ حَسَنَهْ

So you see the people of integrity in that year,

You see the chaste people in it

and they are in a good state.

In a good state

وَتَرى مَن خانَ هِمَّتُه

وَتَرى مَن خانَ هِمَّتُه

أَن يُؤَدِّي كُلَّ ما اِحتَجنَهْ

أَن يُؤَدِّي كُلَّ ما اِحتَجنَهْ

And you see the traitor, whose aim

And you see the one who betrayed his resolve

is to hand over all that he has hoarded.

Unable to repay all that he owed
