نعوذُ بالرحمنِ مِنْ مثلها

نعوذُ بالرحمنِ مِنْ مثلها

زلزلةٌ أسهرتِ الأعينا

زلزلةٌ أسهرتِ الأعينا

We seek refuge in the Most Merciful from anything like it—

We seek refuge with the Most Merciful from the like of it.

an earthquake that kept eyes awake.

قدْ واثبتْ بالهجمِ مَنْ لا عصى

قدْ واثبتْ بالهجمِ مَنْ لا عصى

وعاقبتْ بالرجمِ مَنْ لا زنى

وعاقبتْ بالرجمِ مَنْ لا زنى

It has assailed with destruction those who had not disobeyed,

It pounced with assault upon the innocent.

and punished by stoning those who had not committed adultery.

And stoned with rocks those who did not sin.

حكمُ عزيزٍ قادرٍ قاهرٍ

حكمُ عزيزٍ قادرٍ قاهرٍ

في كلِّ حالٍ لمْ يزلْ محسنا

في كلِّ حالٍ لمْ يزلْ محسنا

The decree of One mighty, powerful, all-subduing,

The decree of the Almighty, All Powerful, Supreme Ruler

who, in every circumstance, has never ceased to do good.

In every state has never ceased being Beneficent.
