فدمشقُ تحسدُها على تمكينها

The lord has indeed beautified Hama with his bounty.

The Lord has adorned Hama with His grace,

So Damascus envies her for her secure standing.

So that Damascus envies its empowerment.

بسمَتْ فأعجبني تبسُّم ثغرِها

بسمَتْ فأعجبني تبسُّم ثغرِها

فلثمتُ فاها آخذاً بقرونِها

فلثمتُ فاها آخذاً بقرونِها

She smiled, and the smile on her lips delighted me.

It smiled, and I was captivated by the smile of its lips,

So I kissed her mouth, taking hold of her tresses.

So I kissed its mouth, grasping its horns.
