حمَّى فلانٍ أطبقَتْ لَيْتَها

حمَّى فلانٍ أطبقَتْ لَيْتَها

دامَتْ فزادتْ كبْدَهُ كَبْتَا

دامَتْ فزادتْ كبْدَهُ كَبْتَا

So-and-so's fever has become unremitting; if only it

The fever of so-and-so has overwhelmed, if only

would last and increase his liver's anguish.

It would last and increase his suffering and sorrow

وقالَ دعني ما أنا طيِّبٌ

وقالَ دعني ما أنا طيِّبٌ

فقلتُ خبِّرْني متى طِبْتا

فقلتُ خبِّرْني متى طِبْتا

He said, "Leave me; I am not well."

And he said "Leave me be, I'm not well"

So I said, "Tell me, when were you ever good?"

So I said "Tell me, when have you been well?"
