قصيرةٌ طالَ غرامي بها

قصيرةٌ طالَ غرامي بها

كأنَّها الريمةُ مِنْ رامَهْ

كأنَّها الريمةُ مِنْ رامَهْ

Short she is—yet long has my passion for her endured;

She is short, yet my passion for her has grown long.

to whoever desires her, she seems a gazelle.

As though she were the white gazelle from Rāmah.

إنْ قيلَ عنها مالها قامةٌ

إنْ قيلَ عنها مالها قامةٌ

فالشمسُ والبدرُ بلا قامَهْ

فالشمسُ والبدرُ بلا قامَهْ

If someone says of her, “She has no height,”

If it is said of her, 'She has no stature,'

the sun and the full moon have no height either.

then the sun and the full moon have no stature either.
