مرَّتْ بخدَّيْ شقيقٍ

مرَّتْ بخدَّيْ شقيقٍ

بنا فقلتُ مبادرْ

بنا فقلتُ مبادرْ

She passed, her cheeks like anemones,

A chick passed by my cheek,

by us, and I said at once:

So I said take the lead!

مرُّ الشقائقِ هذا

مرُّ الشقائقِ هذا

قالتْ وشقُّ المرائرْ

قالتْ وشقُّ المرائرْ

"This is the passing of anemones."

Passing of chicks is this,

She said, "And the rending of gallbladders."

She said and tearful eyes.
