هوَit السيفُthe sword لاno بلْrather كالأسودِlike the lions الغوالبِthe conquering ones
هوَ السيفُ لا بلْ كالأسودِ الغوالبِ
O you who fault the mute woman, desist, for her gaze
O you who blame her, though she cannot speak, cease your blame, for her glance
Is the sword—no, rather, like conquering lions.
Is a sword, nay, but as lions that prevail,
محاerased السيفُthe sword أسطارَlines البلاغةِeloquence وانتحتْand bore down
محا السيفُ أسطارَ البلاغةِ وانتحتْ
عليكمْupon you, plural أسودُlions الغابِthe forest منْfrom كلِّevery جانبِside
عليكمْ أسودُ الغابِ منْ كلِّ جانبِ
The sword erased the lines of eloquence, and there bore down
The sword has erased the lines of eloquence and rescued
Upon you the forest’s lions from every side.
Upon you all the lions of the thicket from every side.
