1. يا أهلَ مصرَ هكذا وليتمُ

    حلباً لجلفٍ مالكيِّ المذهب

    O people of Egypt, thus you have entrusted

    Aleppo to a boor of the Maliki school.

  2. من دأبِهِ سراً هنا أصحابه

    ويقول قد ظهرتْ جيوشُ المغربِ

    Among his habits, secretly here—his companions [the syntax is unclear].

    And he says, “The armies of the Maghrib have indeed appeared.”
