وأجودَ الخلقِ في العطايا

وأجودَ الخلقِ في العطايا

O most just of people in judging cases,

O fairest of mankind in your judgments,

And most generous of mankind in giving gifts,

And most generous of people in your gifts,

إلى متى لا يزالُ مثلي

إلى متى لا يزالُ مثلي

مبلبلَ القلبِ في الشكايا

مبلبلَ القلبِ في الشكايا

How long will someone like me remain

How long will one such as I

Distraught at heart amid complaints?

Remain with a troubled heart full of complaints?

أخذتُ منها أتمَّ حظٍّ

أخذتُ منها أتمَّ حظٍّ

وحقَّ لي ألزمُ الزوايا

وحقَّ لي ألزمُ الزوايا

I have received the fullest share of them,

I have received from her the fullest share of fortune,

And it is fitting for me to keep to the corners.

And it is my right to seclude myself in retreat.
