O chamberlain of the sultan, an eyebrow has adorned you,
O brows of the Sultan, a brow adorns you,
And spared you in battle the need for Hajib’s bow.
And in anger, it spares you the bow of the brow,
وياand O صدغَهُhis temple-lock الملويُّthe curled إنَّindeed لحاظَهُhis glances
ويا صدغَهُ الملويُّ إنَّ لحاظَهُ

سيوفٌ حدادٌ يا لؤيُّ بنَ غالبِ
And O his curled temple-lock, his glances are indeed
And O his twisted cheek, his glances,
Sharp swords, O Lu’ayy son of Ghalib.
Are polished swords, O bright son of Galib!
