ربَّmany a أعمىblind man أصمَّنيdeafened me عنْto عذوليmy reproacher
ربَّ أعمى أصمَّني عنْ عذولي
آهِah! مِنْfrom سيفِsword طرفِهِhis gaze المغمودِsheathed
آهِ مِنْ سيفِ طرفِهِ المغمودِ
Many a blind man has deafened me to my reproacher.
O Lord, blind and deafen me to my tormentors
Ah, how I suffer from the sheathed sword of his gaze!
Alas from the sheathed sword of his glance
قدُّهُhis stature والذؤابتانِand the two tresses رمتنيcast me
قدُّهُ والذؤابتانِ رمتني
منْamong طعينِone pierced القناlances وخفقِand the flutter البنودِbanners
منْ طعينِ القنا وخفقِ البنودِ
His stature and his twin tresses have cast me
His neck and the two forelocks have struck me
Among those pierced by lances and the flutter of banners.
With the piercing of spears and the fluttering of flags
