So the tears of my eye poured forth like a spring.

طالَ في أُنسِهِ القصيرِ غرامي

وَهْوَ بدرٌ وينجلي في حنينِ

My passion grew long in his brief companionship.

And he is a full moon, shining forth amid longing.

بيَ نارٌ مِنْ جنَّتيْ وجنتيهِ

بيَ نارٌ مِنْ جنَّتيْ وجنتيهِ

لهفَ قلبي على جنى الجنتينِ

لهفَ قلبي على جنى الجنتينِ

In me is a fire from the two gardens of his cheeks.

How my heart yearns for the fruit of the two gardens!

حَسَنٌ قدرُهُ عليَّ فيا مَنْ

حَسَنٌ قدرُهُ عليَّ فيا مَنْ

في ملامي يزيد موتي حسيني

في ملامي يزيد موتي حسيني

Fair is his standing with me; so, O you who

Persist in reproaching me—my death is like Husayn's.
