مَنْwhoever قالَspeaks in praise بالمردِof beardless youths فاحذرthen beware إنْif تصاحبَهُyou befriend him
فإنْfor if فعلْتَyou do فثقْthen be certain بالعارِof disgrace والنارِand hellfire
If you befriend one who praises beardless youths, beware;
Whoever advocates for sodomy, beware of befriending him
for if you do, be certain of disgrace and hellfire.
If you do, trust in disgrace and hellfire
بضاعةٌa commodity ماnot اشتراهاbought it غيرُother than بائعهاits seller
بئسَhow vile البضاعةُthe commodity والمبتاعُand the buyer والشاريand the seller
A commodity none but its seller has bought—
Merchandise that no one sells but its vendor
how vile the commodity, the buyer, and the seller!
Miserable is the merchandise, the buyer, and the seller

O people, sodomy has become notorious today,
O people, sodomy has become popular today
and widespread, widely known, with no condemnation.
Prevalent and widespread without objection

والعرشُand the Throne يهتزُّtrembles منْهُat it هزَّa shaking إكبارِhorror at its enormity
A sin through which nations before us perished,
A sin that destroyed past nations before us
and the Throne trembles at it with a shudder of horror.
And the Throne shakes from it, a great quake

The Gardens of Eden have been forbidden to the sodomite.
The Gardens of Eden are forbidden to the sodomite
God is greatest! How disobedient he is to the Creator!
Allah is Greater! What disobedience of the Creator!

I seek God's forgiveness for earlier verse of mine
I ask Allah’s forgiveness for the poetry I previously composed
about beardless youths; my aim was to promote my poems.
Promoting sodomy in my verses to popularize my poems

But that is talk, not followed by
But that is an opinion I no longer hold
lewdness—and far be it from me to do the deeds of evildoers:
Far be it from me the acts of the wicked

a people who, when they wage war, tighten their loincloths
A people who, when fought, support one another
to keep women out, even if the women spend the night ritually pure.
Against women, even if they are menstruating
