لو كانَ يرضى بحكمي

If my judgment were accepted

If he were content with my rule

in matters of beauty by the dark and the fair,

Of beauty being black and white

لقلتُ للسودِ سودوا

لقلتُ للسودِ سودوا

وقلتُ للبيضِ بيضوا

وقلتُ للبيضِ بيضوا

I would say to the dark, “Reign!”

I'd have told the blacks, "Be blacker!"

and I would say to the fair, “Lay eggs!”

And told the whites, "Be whiter!"
