إن قال لي صفْ عذاري وصفَ مبتكرِ

إن قال لي صفْ عذاري وصفَ مبتكرِ

ووجنتي قلتُ خذْ يا صنعةَ الباري

ووجنتي قلتُ خذْ يا صنعةَ الباري

If he says to me, “Describe my cheek-down as an innovator would,

If he says "Describe my cheek to me, and describe what is innovated,

and my cheek,” I say, “Take this, O handiwork of the Creator:

And my cheek I say "Take, O work of the Creator,

هذا عذارُكَ نمَّامٌ ومسكنُهُ

هذا عذارُكَ نمَّامٌ ومسكنُهُ

نارٌ بخديْكَ والنمامُ في النارِ

نارٌ بخديْكَ والنمامُ في النارِ

This cheek-down of yours is a talebearer, and its dwelling

This is your cheek, fault finding and its dwelling

is fire upon your cheeks—and the talebearer is in the Fire.”

A fire on your cheek, and the fault finder is in the fire."
