from the evil of the plague of lineage.

From the evil of the genealogy plague

قدْ طارَ في الأقطارْ

Its gunpowder, rising high,

Its arrogant gunpowder

has flown throughout the lands.

Has flown through the regions

فتَّاش دهاشاتِهِ

فتَّاش دهاشاتِهِ

ساعي لصارخٍ ما رثي

ساعي لصارخٍ ما رثي

A searcher of its terrors—an unclear phrase—

Searching its terrible raids

hastening to one crying out, who found no pity

Seeking an unmourned screamer

ولا فدى بدخيره

ولا فدى بدخيره

دولابَهُ الطيارُ

nor ransom through his hoard.

And did not ransom with his wealth
