I loved her, though lame; because of her,

I loved her though crooked her walk

my blood came to be shed from both eyes.

My blood from eyes was shed

وكلما تخطو تبوسُ الثرى

وكلما تخطو تبوسُ الثرى

أحسبُها تضربُ لي جوكا

أحسبُها تضربُ لي جوكا

And whenever she steps, she kisses the earth;

And whene'er she took a step

I imagine her performing a jūk dance for me.

As if she struck my heart repeatedly
