I complain to God of these times of mine, which

I have come into, and in which I am bewildered.

Any man whose people I have tested—

Every hateful thing emerges from him.

How many enviers, how many rebels, how many foes!

How many faultfinders, how many haters, how many fools!

So let the envier do in his lifetime

Whatever he wishes—he must encounter it.

There is no difference between my enemies and me except

That they are ignorant, while I am a jurist.
