سألتُ كتابي إذْ أتى بعدَ برهةٍ

سألتُ كتابي إذْ أتى بعدَ برهةٍ

فقالَ الفلانيُّونَ زادوا توددي

فقالَ الفلانيُّونَ زادوا توددي

I asked my book when it arrived after a while;

I asked my friends when they came after an absence

it said, “The so-and-sos have increased my affection.

They said "The so-and-so's have increased their affection"

رأَوْني مأخوذاً غريباً فأقبلوا

رأَوْني مأخوذاً غريباً فأقبلوا

يقولون لا تهلِكُ أسىً وتجلَّدِ

يقولون لا تهلِكُ أسىً وتجلَّدِ

They saw me captive and a stranger, and came forward,

They saw me distressed and aloof so they came

saying, ‘Do not perish of grief; be steadfast.’”

Saying "Do not anguish yourself or be stoic"
