ثم زالتْ كأنَّها لمْ تكنْها
How many, how many a reign have I grown weary of!
How many a kingdom have I seen displease me,
Then it vanished, as though it had never been.
Then pass away as though it had never been.

لزوالٍ فاحذرْ منَ الذبِّ عنها
And when the oppressor’s prosperity begins to crumble
And when the blessings of the unjust flow away,
Toward ruin, beware of defending it.
Beware of grabbing them, for they cannot last.
