وجاهلٍ جاهلٍ شبعانَ ريَّانا
How many a learned scholar complains of hunger and thirst,
How many a learned man complains of distress and affliction,
while an ignorant fool is sated, his thirst quenched.
While many an ignorant man lives a life of ease and enjoyment.
هذاthis الذيthat which زادَincreased أهلَthe people of الكفرِunbelief لاmay not سلِمواthey be safe
هذا الذي زادَ أهلَ الكفرِ لا سلِموا
كفراًin unbelief وزادَand increased أوليthose possessing الإيمانِfaith إيماناin faith
كفراً وزادَ أولي الإيمانِ إيمانا
This is what increased the unbelievers—may they never be safe—
He who has increased the disbelief of the disbelievers,
in unbelief, and increased those of faith in faith.
Has also increased the faith of the faithful.
