ربَّ شيعيَّةٍ إلى بردِ فيها

ربَّ شيعيَّةٍ إلى بردِ فيها

بيَ حرٌّ وجفنُها في فتورِ

بيَ حرٌّ وجفنُها في فتورِ

For the coolness of many a Shiʿi woman’s mouth

The Shiite community's Lord to the cold therein

I burn, while her eyelid is languid.

A free home, though languid its eyelid

لي ضلوعٌ في كربلا مِنْ جفاها

لي ضلوعٌ في كربلا مِنْ جفاها

ودموعٌ في عيدِ يومِ الغديرِ

ودموعٌ في عيدِ يومِ الغديرِ

My ribs are in Karbala because of her coldness,

In Karbala I ribs from its harshness

And my tears at the feast of the Day of Ghadir.

And tears on the Feast day of Ghadeer
