لا تقرِّبْ جاهلاً تتعبْ بهِ

لا تقرِّبْ جاهلاً تتعبْ بهِ

وتجنبْه وأكتمهُ الخبرْ

وتجنبْه وأكتمهُ الخبرْ

Do not bring a fool close, lest he wear you out.

Do not befriend an ignorant one and tire yourself with him

And avoid him, and keep the news from him.

Avoid him and conceal the news from him

إنما الجاهل كالنار التي

إنما الجاهل كالنار التي

كلَّما قرَّبْتَها زدتَ ضررْ

كلَّما قرَّبْتَها زدتَ ضررْ

A fool is just like fire:

For the ignorant is like a fire

the closer you bring it, the more harm you suffer.

The more you draw near it, the more harm it does
