    As though the anemones and their colors

    Were garments rent upon a bereaved parent.

    لهمْ فيهمُ قسمة العادلِ

    And the daisies' mouth is smiling;

    Theirs among them is the just one's apportionment.

    He ransomed himself with a pledge of pure gold,

    And gave to the tips of the slender spears.

    And our narcissus is a radiant eye,

    Nor does the gaze recoil from anything fearsome.

    So, what a branch you are upon a slender spear,

    Where fingertips would be upon the spear-shaft.
