وماAnd how أشبهَlike الحمَّامَthe bathhouse بالموتِto death لامرئٍto a man
وما أشبهَ الحمَّامَ بالموتِ لامرئٍ
تَذَكَّرَreflected لكنْbut أينَwhere مَنْone who يتذكرُreflects
تَذَكَّرَ لكنْ أينَ مَنْ يتذكرُ
And how like death the bathhouse is to a man
who reflects—but where is one who reflects?
تجرَّدstripped himself منْof أهلٍfamily ومالٍand wealth وملبسٍand clothing
تجرَّد منْ أهلٍ ومالٍ وملبسٍ
ويصحبُهُand accompanies him مِنْof كلِّall ذلكَthat مئزرُa waistcloth
ويصحبُهُ مِنْ كلِّ ذلكَ مئزرُ
He strips himself of family, wealth, and clothing,
and of all that, only a waistcloth accompanies him.
