وحاصرَها العزيزُ حصارَ فتحٍ

وحاصرَها العزيزُ حصارَ فتحٍ

وعزَّ بأخذِهِ الحصنَ المنيعا

وعزَّ بأخذِهِ الحصنَ المنيعا

And al-Aziz besieged it in a siege of conquest,

The mighty one laid siege, to conquer and subdue,

And grew mighty by taking the impregnable fortress.

And gloried in taking the fortress, firm and true.

وظنوا بالعزيزِ العجزَ عنها

وظنوا بالعزيزِ العجزَ عنها

فجاءَ إليهِ عاصيها مطيعا

فجاءَ إليهِ عاصيها مطيعا

And they thought al-Aziz incapable of taking it,

They thought the mighty one, would fail and could not win,

So its rebel came to him obedient.

But those who disobeyed, now obedient moved in.
