Ah, many a handsome cook—to me speak
Behold many a fine cook say to me,
his hands and eyes in words beyond dispute:
His hands and eyes recount a narrative believed,
لناours are الجفناتُthe large bowls الغرُّbright يلمعْنَthey gleam بالضَّحىat midmorning
لنا الجفناتُ الغرُّ يلمعْنَ بالضَّحى

وأسيافنا يقطرْنَ مِنْ نَجْدَةٍ دما
“Ours are the bright bowls that gleam at midmorning,
For us eyelids flash at dawn,
and our swords drip blood from deeds of valor.”
And our swords drip with blood from Najd.
